Disabilities Bill, 2016

The Parliament has passed the Right of Persons with Disabilities Bill, 2016 in order to replace the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995.
This Bill was passed by the Parliament in order to make the laws of our country in conformity with Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2006 to which India is a signatory.
As per this bill, persons with at least 40% of a disability are categorized as benchmark disabled.
